Look in any average tool box
and you’ll be sure to find a screwdriver, hammer, pliers, and
much more. These tools assist in the work to be done.
Christians also have a “tool box” as there is much work to
be done in the Lord’s vineyard. Here are some things you
should find in every Christians “tool box.”
A Godly Life. Christians
have been commanded to live “godly” (Tit. 2:12). A
Christian must have and show proper reverence for God and His
word. Don’t expect to win your friends to Christ without a
godly life!
Faith. A reading of
Hebrews 11:6 reveals, “But without faith it is impossible to
please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that
He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Jesus
said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in Me” (John 14:1). Have faith in God my
friend!
Courage. When Paul
saw his brethren “…he thanked God and took courage”
(Acts 28:15). Courage here means “to be of good
cheer” (Vines Dictionary). Is courage in your “tool
box”?
Integrity.
Integrity is adherence to a code of values. A Christian adheres
to God’s code. Paul spoke concerning God’s code when
he penned, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly
equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Adhere to
God always.
Love For Souls.
We’ll have a great love for souls when we learn the value of a
soul. A reading of Matthew 16:26 reveals, “For what profit
is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or
what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” A
man’s soul is worth more than the whole world! Will love
for souls be found in your “tool box” when opened?
Desire To Save Souls.
Not only must we have a love for souls, but a desire to save them as
well. Andrew showed his desire to save souls in that “He
first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the
Messiah" (which is translated, the Christ). And he brought him to
Jesus” (Jn. 1:41-42). We truly need more Andrews
today!
Credibility.
Christians must be a good example. Suppose I called myself a
Christian and used filthy language, dressed immodest, visited bars and
gambling halls, do you think I have any credibility. I think
not! That’s like as someone once said “a bald man
showing up trying to sell hair restorer!” Credibility
involves being trustworthy.
These are just a few things among many that should be found in every
Christian’s “Tool box.” Are these things in
yours?
